Explain the network's fundamental characteristics and components.

Kudler Fine Foods has three grocery store locations. All three of Kudler Fine Foods locations have a dedicated OC1 Sonnet line that allows for transmission between all three stores. The OC1 (Optical Carrier) rates established for each store is 51.84 Mbps. There is a dedicated T3 line that supports all 3 location's internet services. There are a variety of Kudler Fine Foods services that can be supported by a T3 line. For example with a dedicated T3 broadband line the Del Mar, Encinitas, and La Jolla locations can use videoconference for communication. The advantage of having a dedicated T3 broadband line is it can optimize Kudler Fine Foods internet speed and transmission. Kudler Fine Foods environment is supported by a 100 Base-T network. Having a 100 Base-T network adapter can support data transfer rates up to 100 Mbps which increases network speed. Kudler Fine Foods home office is the La Jolla store. The La Jolla location houses the network server for Kudler Fine Foods. The network server that is currently being used is a HP blade server c3000 that operates using a UNIX operating system. The network server is also supporting the corporation's SAP retail software, printer, email, and web services. There is at this location a 10TB NAS that can be used as backup storage system. The 10TB NAS can provide storage and backup for the 19 computers located at the La Jolla site and the 12 other computers located at the Del Mar and Encinitas Stores. Each desktop computer at the La Jolla site Dell machines with Intel i3 processor which has a processing speed of 3.33GHz, 4 GB of RAM, running Microsoft Windows 7, 500 GB hard drive, CD/RW with 7200 RPM, and 802.11n WLAN communication.
