A major problem with the population of the world today is Obesity. This problem has grown so large that in a USATODAY column has listed it as a number one killer of health diseases. According to WebMD (2010) “People who are considered obese are over their total body fat percentage by 20% or more.” This paper is to inform on this disease and to possibly help initiate a program that will help thousands of people with their own health.

Families these days are more prone to eat out because of the simple fact of being convenient. Not often realizing that this problem is far worse than imagined; and the consequences of these actions will take place in their future with or without proper knowledge. So by the families letting their children follow in their footsteps isn’t a good deed to persuade. This sets the next generation up to become on the fast track of becoming obese themselves. That’s why when children are playing they shouldn’t have things like televised video games and hand held electronics because this further lets them know its okay to sit back and gain all of the extra weight that is added over time. Playing sports is a good way to help them on the right track to a healthy life. The stronger the heart is the healthier you are and the longer you live as well.

As far as factors go that actually cause obesity there isn’t a set in stone list. There are several different things that could cause you to become obese. Unacceptable eating habits like eating a lot of fast foods, eating more than what you should, binging when stressing or of being bored are more than likely to lead anyone down the road of becoming obese. “While most overweight people have no more psychological disturbances than people at their normal weight, about 30% of people who seek treatment for serious weight problems have difficulties with binge eating.” (WebMD, 2010)
