Career Plan Reflection

After completing the career plan assessments, within the last six weeks I can say that the next steps in my plan is occupational research and decision making. After completing the self-assessments, which help me to identify my personality, attitude, skills, and learning style. I have identified the right career paths that can only enhance these attributes. The next step in my plan is occupational research, which is where I investigate options available. Andolsen (2008), states, “A successful career plan makes this investigation as comprehensive and exhaustive as possible. Careful attention to each of the elements below can prevent false starts” (para.5). I will attain information through information search and interviews, job shadowing, and trending. The next step after occupation research is decision-making, which isI take the information gathered and make an informed decision about what direction I want my career to go in the future. This will be achieved through career and personal objectives.

After making a plan it is important to set milestones. Milestones created must be realistic and obtainable in charting progress. This is can be achieved through such measures as benchmarking and charting. With using the aforementioned measures with creating milestones will allow me to determine where I am from where I need to be and gives the opportunity to add or take away so that I can stay on track. These steps are important for establishing a career plan because properly documentingwhatisgetting done in the process and completing an analysis if certain goals are not obtained.
