My Own Heaven

I still remember how I met the most foolish person in the world. His name was Carlos but nobody called him by his name just for his nickname which was cataña. The first time I saw him, he was wearing only boxer, and he was walking in the sidewalk while he was imitating duck sound. I was the only person who talked with him, and Carlos used to say that I was his only friend on Earth. Over time, Carlos was changing and some people did not like the idea because they were missing their jester. Three months later Carlos was found dead and nobody was aware of the cause. Some people used to say that it was a murder or maybe he just slipped the bridge that silent night in April, but the truth is that Carlos was my first real friend in Nueva Esparta. A perfect place is formed with memories and with people no matter if they are alive or dead, and that is one of the aspects that people have forgotten. There is a little town named Nueva Esparta in a remote spot of El Salvador. Nueva Esparta is a cattle town where every morning people see through the window the marches of children going to school without cellphones and without iPods, anything that might distract them from their classes with only their backpacks full books and notebooks and their only two tools: their brain and their old slingshots. Therefore, Nueva Esparta is my perfect place because its traditions are full of colors and emotions, I have great memories about this town and there are many beautiful landscapes.
