The assignments themselves

The purpose of the assignments is to encourage you to think about and apply what you know in both real and life-like organizational situations using the language of academic writers in the organisational analysis field. You are to undertake one essay and one case study. For essays, read through the titles, avoid making immediate choices (especially those based upon the notion that shorter titles mean less effort) but don’t delay for too long because you will need to start researching your chosen title. Also: don’t waste time trawling texts for neat answers to the questions in the titles. You’re unlikely to find them but hopefully what you will find is that your research enables you to meaningfully engage in just the kind of informed conceptualisation and argumentation which the titles ask for.

The word limit allows you to show your understanding of the subject. You do not need to exceed this limit. Part of the task is to write concisely. Appendices can be used for supporting information but very bulky appendices do not usually reflect well on the skill of the author. Use the appendices sparingly and place in them only the material that the reader needs to have
