Theme: Conscious living and being aware of our surroundings and everyday actions...
How do our actions affect the world around us?
~40 minutes: ACTIVITY 1 - Sharing Personal Stories
(5min) Explanation
“Recount your thought process behind a meaningful conscious decision you have made in your life.
Recall how that decision made you feel at the time versus how you feel about it today.”
(Examples: choosing something more meaningful than materialistic, sacrificing current happiness for delayed gratification.)
We will give one example.
(15 Minutes) Group time.
Groups (with diverse personalities) will each share their stories with each other.
They will pick one story from the group that is most interesting / compelling.
(15 Minutes) Presentation
Each group will present one meaningful story in front of the class
(5 minutes) Wrap Up
Determine whether conscious thought was required for satisfaction - whether it resulted in happiness or not
Ask class to raise their hands if they believe that sometimes it's sometimes easier to be ignorant
-Or is it easier to enlist in much conscious thought, and battle with your decision?
Talk about how it's an important managerial & life skill to decide when to engage in conscious thought and when to make a decision quickly and mindlessly
10 minutes ACTIVITY 2 - Space Counting
Game: Space Counting, We don't want to ruin the surprise by explaining it!
Talk about how people make unconscious decisions to cheat or not
Ask if it's worth it in the long run
Are people blinded by immediate gratification that may in fact be emptier than winning by not cheating.
