Different Personalities

Presently, the team is presented with a plethora of different personalities. Though many personalities and peoples area viable and vital mix for the team’s success, the potential for conflict within the team environment not only persist, but also are elevated. The first point of this plan is to use those very personality differences to enhance the learning team experience. Variations in personalities are the glue with which the team is held together. The diversity of personality allows the free-flow of ideas and imagination that fuel the progress of advancement within the team.

To take full advantage of the personality traits here the team members have been given personality surveys to determine accurately the personality type of each of the team members. By utilizing the Myers-Briggs Type indicator the team will be able to differentiate between the extroverts and the introverts, the sensing and the intuitive, etc (Robbins & Judge, p. 109). The information garnered from the test will allow the team to work to its full potential because each member will be cognizant of the other’s personality traits and will therefore be better equipped to manage any potential problems that may arise within the team.

Different Values

As important as it may be to know the personalities of the individuals working together on a learning team, it may be even more important to know the values of the individuals. According to the text (Robbins & Judge, p. 120), “Values represent basic convictions that “a specific mode of conduct or endstate of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end-state of existence.” They contain a judgmental element in that they carry an individual’s ideas about what is right, good, or desirable.” Values are the beliefs we...
