Video Game Paper

Some themes about this course I am going to discuss are the violence in video games and how it has grown since video games have been created. I am also going to touch on the theme of where video games could possibly be going in the future. Video games have had a huge come up and have grown in a tremendous way since there were first produced. Video games have had a big impact and influence on our society from since they were first produced until now and even the future. Video games can influence and shape the young generations minds and without them even realizing it can make them act and feel a certain type of way. One of these emotions that are used when talking about video games is aggression and violence.

People have said that video games and the extensive use of playing violent video games for an extended amount of time could lead to aggressive behaviors in the people who partake in this. There was even this one case in Washington where this person killed 13 people and people thought the cause was video games. “Reports suggest that the gunman, Aaron Alexis, played quite a bit of violent video games. Friends have said to reporters that his heavy game use, described as up to 16 hours at a time, may help explain his actions.” (http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/18/opinion/bushman-video-games/). The reason people thought his aggression was so high was because of the extended amount of time he played violent video games for and honestly I can understand where people are coming from, but in my personal opinion I don’t think the video games did such a thing to him the only thing I think it did was raise the aggression he already had inside him and his sick twisted mind are what truly made him kill those innocent people.

I think that video games without a doubt have some impact on the rise of aggression and violence in a person but I don’t think it would have any effect on the person if the aggression and rage wasn’t there in the...
