Digital Forensics Software
1.) Digital Forensics Framework:
The digital forensics framework( http://www.arxsys.fr/features/) is a forensic software developed by arxsys, in at top forensic software list, this was number one. Some of the features include: support for VMDK files, FAT 12/16/32, NTFS(windows),HFS/HFS+(osx & iphone), and Ext2/3/4 for linux. Some of the pro features include: Skype analysis, web browser history recovery, and windows event logs.
2.)CAINE(Computer Aided Investigative Environment);
CAINE(http://www.caine-live.net/page11/page11.html) is a linux live distribution developed in italy, this tool is a complete operating system, developed for digital forensics. CAINE is a completely open source project, which means that anyone can pick up where the previous developer left off and tailor it to their own needs. CAINE would be exceedingly useful, because its not a forensic tool in its own right, but a complete kit, which enables the user to have many tools at their fingertips, just like the penetration testing toolkit Kali linux. An added bonus that makes CAINE a seemingly great tool, is that its a linux live distro, which means that it can be stored on a thumb drive and used on any computer.
3.) X-Ways integrated computer forensics software
X-Ways(http://www.x-ways.net/forensics/) is a forensic work environment for examiners developed by X-Ways, right off the bat one of the downsides is the windows-only compatibility, the feature list is long, but some features include: disk cloning and imaging, ability to read file system structures inside (.dd) image files, ISO, VHD, and VMDK images. It also features “lightning fast” logical search , and the ability to analyze remote computers.
