CrysTel Telecommunication is based in Illinois and has an annual business turnover of $200 million in the industry. The company has been facing serious competition from other companies considering the ever-changing market, consumer demands and continuous technological advancements. The management of CrysTel has decided to make certain changes within the company to cope with the falling consumer satisfaction and sales figures.
Change is required in order to facilitate employee motivation and production. However, resistance to change is likely to come into play. Employees within an organization do not always approach change positively. CrysTel’ decision to implement change is not being supported strongly because of concerns within the organization that the company will not be able to cope with the changes.
Implementing Change In CrysTel
CrysTel decided to conduct climate and employee satisfaction survey to determine the weaknesses and strengths of the company. Considering the results of the surveys, the management concluded that Sales and Delivery and Marketing are the two weakest departments and Technology department is the strongest.
Running the simulation explained that leadership in technology department is more participative, employee innovation is encouraged whereas, in the sales and delivery department, the multi-team structure with many reporting heads at the senior level make it harder for employees and the management to perform. Leaders from different teams do not interact as efficiently and coordinate effectively (University of Phoenix Simulation, 2008). Changes confronting organizations and the associated changes in organizational forms have made organizational communication increasingly important to overall organizational functioning (Baker, 2002).
