1. What is one important distinction you could not overlook making when critically evaluating the information provided in these materials about the Boston Tea Party? Clarify the importance of that distinction.

The Boston Tea Party was an act of self-determination by British colonists against a tyrannical monarchy several thousand miles away. Although the colonists and those they were arguing against were so far away, they continued with their protest. In this event, the British were levying huge taxes on the American colonists, and the colonists did not agree with this at all. The colonists were attempting to point out that the British were trying to manipulate the colonists even though they were separated by such a large space. The colonists were overlooking the fact that they could have ignored the taxes being brought by a monarchy in an entirely different physical location.

The Boston Tea Party was a complicated conflagration that pitted the British rulers against the independent and brave individuals who made the effort to face the tremendous challenges of the New World. This was a seminal time in American history, as such; it has been documented in many media, including movies, television, and books. One of the excellent films I viewed for additional information was the 1934 movie, “The Boston Tea Party” that detailed many of the issues leading up to the eventual disagreement. I was also able to listen to the important series, You Are There - The American Revolution Prepares/ The Boston Massacre/ The Boston Tea Party,” that included details regarding the incident as well as other information about the American revolution.

3. Considering what you have learned about the Boston Tea Party, Samuel Adams, and Thomas Hutchinson, apply your creativity to describe what could have been done proactively to avoid the incident.
