Instructions

1   Choose ONE of the topics below to write your essay:

*Your task is to pick more specific topics within the more general topics listed above*

2. In order to narrow the focus of your essay you must ask yourself a specific question about your topic. You will research and address this question in your essay

3. After you have read the research, formulate your thesis and create your outline. Remember that your outline should have the main points (ideas) you are arguing as well as the supporting ideas (examples) for each paragraph. This outline is due in class on October 5th, 2015. On a separate page you will create a tentative bibliography of the sources you will use for your essay. This bibliography must be in proper MLA format and you MUST hand this in as well. I will provide feedback to help you with the essay writing process.

4. Write your essay. Remember that this is an analytical essay; therefore, you are expected to critically analyze the arguments presented and use your sources to support or enhance your analysis. Your voice must be clear in your essay; it is not a simple retelling of what the sources say.

5. Bring a rough draft of your essay to class October 26th, 2015. We will have a peer review session where you will look over each other’s work. This session will help you edit your work in preparation for submission of the final copy of your essay 2 weeks later.

6. Final draft /Presentation of the essay due in class on November 30th, 2015. It must be 1500-2000 words. Please double space your essay...
