Thesis Statement: Child abuse is real and is on the rise. The sad thing is most abused children are either too young or too afraid to bring attention to the abuse that they suffer and to ask for help.

I feel that this thesis statement will be effective for a few reasons. First, the attention grabbing statement “Child abuse is real and is on the rise.” I feel that this statement really hits home to the reader that this is a matter of serious nature and that it is not a made up article. Second, the fact that I brought in to view that most children who are abused are too young and too afraid to tell and bring attention to the abuse. I feel that that statement really gets the reader to want to continue reading because they will be looking for more evidence into that statement and how they can help.

There are a few ways I plan to go about researching this topic. I will be using Kaplan Library as well as Google Scholar. I will also be using a personal friend who was a victim of child abuse to bring a firsthand view into the world of an abused victim. I also intend on using research found from the Kempe Foundation and the McCormick Foundation to support my argument. I honestly don’t feel that I can make this writing unbiased in any manner as this is more a presentation of fact and not an argument.

Pitch: Child abuse is real and is on the rise. The sad thing is most abused children are either too young or too afraid to bring attention to the abuse that they suffer and to ask for help.

I’m here today to explain in detail the seriousness of this atrocity in hopes that from my facts, statistics and first hand interview of someone who suffered such misdeeds that you will take a step forward in passing legislation to better protect those who are abused and to issue severe and harsh punishment to those who bring abuse to innocent children all over the country.
