Today, agriculture industry plays a key role in world wide especially in economy, which can be entitled as the backbone of an economy system. Agriculture industry provides raw materials, food and also occupies a high proportion of population in employment opportunities (Preservearticles.com, 2015). Sadly, the undeniable truth is that Malaysian agriculture has largely missed out in discussions about Malaysia’s future. It does not even get much attention in the 10th Malaysia Plan. in fact agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry, still accounts for 7-8 percent of Malaysia’s gross domestic product, which is a high level for a country at Malaysia’s stage of economic development. The sector also involves around one million workers, with about half of these being temporary migrants. Parts of the agricultural sector are highly dynamic, and have good potential for the future. But there are also numerous emerging problems needing to be considered in future transformation.

Agriculture has been a premier source of national income for most of the country. It shows that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the contribution in agriculture declined from 28.8 per cent in 1970 to 7.5 percent in 2007. In 2008, the contribution of agriculture to the GDP were maintained before it become rising to 7.7 percent in 2009 and it show that the total GDP was declined from RM530.7 billion in 2008 to RM522.0 billion in 2009. After that, data showed that it was a decrease to 7.3 percent in 2010 (Selected Indicators, 2015). Judging by appearance on the contribution of agriculture to GDP, it was showed that a clearly declining trend but the actual value of productivity and output has increased. The contribution of agriculture to the GDP of developed countries such as United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan is between one and three per cent.
