Affirmative Action

1. As a caucasian male with no military experience or veteran status I see Affirmative Action as a flawed system. Affirmative Action gives minorities women and veterans alike an easy way into certain jobs. While giving these easy walk ons to these groups it leaves out the hard working caucasian males out to dry.

This is a great injustice in our current time of equality and fairness for all United

States Citizens.

In many civil service jobs such as a police officer or a firefighter these Affirmative Action rules and regulations greatly help minorities and other groups get these jobs. Which means on the civil service exam if a white male got a 98 on the test a Spanish woman who scored an 85 would get the job over him. Which in my mind is astonishing because the Spanish woman is clearly not the best candidate for the job. Same goes for the veterans; in their case I am a little more understanding because in the case of looking to get hired as a police officer they already have experience with firearms and policing in general. Being a different skin pigmentation or gender should not help guarantee you a job. Everyone in this day in age wants equality for their race or equality and equal pay for their gender. But why should the rest of the world give you the respect and equality you demand if you rely on Affirmative Action to land a job that you are not the best applicant for? I understand this is not being the typically “politically correct” person to be in the year 2015; but it is necessary for someone to stand up and say this is not right for the better man to be left out of the job he rightfully deserves and is over qualified for. This whole system made it very tough for my brother Jeff to get a job as a firefighter. He is a white male with no arrest record who was top of his class in the fire academy and set the all time course record in New Hampshire for the physical fitness test.
