Abstract:

Transportation is the most successful and useful means to carry products. Implementation of RFID technology in transportation has made it more useful and powerful. This technology is playing a key role in present transportation. It saves time, and shows adequate cost efforts. This paper explains the RFID implementation in transportation, its benefits and disadvantages, how its implementation should be planned in transportation and what are some areas of transportation in which the RFID technology is successful.

Introduction:

For goods that are to be transported or for people to travel from one place to another, transportation helps in such purposes. Identifying and tracking the vehicle is necessary which helps in finding if the vehicle is lost. Also, passengers are to be informed about their baggage if it is lost. For identifying and tracing where the products or goods are, there is use of a technology which serves this purpose. RFID technology helps in tracking the things. It is also very useful on highway tolls and in subway passes of metro.

What is the problem in my industry?

Occurrence of delay is the crucial problem in transportation. In some places of cities there is congestion of area due to which the delay rate rises. There are more chances of accidents due to this. There will be huge loss to the organization due to congestion. On the highways, it is necessary to pay tolls where it takes time to reach the toll and pay (Mitchell, 1962, p.170).

General description of the business problem:

When there occurs delay in transportation, the goods which are to be delivered in time gets delayed due to which whole organization’s work gets destructed. Also if a truck or rail with some goods is not reachable, there are chances that they might be lost. The reputation of the organization may also weaken due to this. Also when passengers could not reach their destination in time their work gets delayed....
