Why Private Security?

“Private security companies are business corporations, which provide armed and unarmed security services and expertise to private and public clients.” Private security companies are those who primarily engage in providing guard and patrol services, such as parking security and security guard services, not to mention the most thought of, bodyguard and guard dog services / detection. These services are commonly associated with the protection of personnel and/or assets. “The private security industry is rapidly growing, currently there are 2 million full-time security workers in the United States and this number is expected to increase by 21% percent through 2020.”

Knowing the above information and the understanding of proactive protection versus reactive protection, private security is the way to. In the majority of situations where private security is hired, those employees are at their post for one reason and one reason only…to protect your company’s employees making them feel safer and your property, whatever that is consisting of. Understanding that having a private security company hired to protect your corner of the world gives most a sense of security and empowerment that other companies might not have or be able to offer. I personally work at the Federal Building where The Department of Veterans Affairs uses a private security company for our building. Not only are the posted at the entrances to our buildings, but we have a few that do campus security checks and they are posted at various locations throughout the building. Knowing they are here and would handle any issue before it got to me (at least theoretically anyway) allows me to breathe a little easier when I come to work every day.
