Part 1: Group Development

Woodson Foundation; a nonprofit social service organization needs to build an executive development team in order to achieve the goal, that is improvement of student outcomes within the schools. While teaming up with the Washington, DC public school system. In Group Development, organization has typically five stages that must be followed by groups in forming teams. However this is not mandatory for all groups to go through each stage at the same time. Five stage model’s first stage is Forming Stage.

Forming Stage:

First Stage is Farming Stage in which they identified the problem and plan for how to drive the results. This stage is very crucial because we need to choose right individuals. The Team will consist of the School, an HR rep from Woodson and NCPIE. Because maintaining cross organizational nature is very important. This stage is bringing the plan forward and also forming an executive development plan. Responsibility of this team is to develop and operate a plan for improvement of school performance. It is expected that both team’s rep participate in this stage. Now they can forward to next stage that is Storming Stage.

Storming Stage:

In this stage they will be finding lot of differences in views and personality. The individuals in these groups have their own way of thinking and interests. They want to demonstrate their view and passion about the project. So teams should not be so large because all of them will provide their opinion and usually they all will not agree. This stage will consists of conflicts, team members will know each other little better and will find commonalities and differences. We can say personalities start coming our (bad or good).this is responsibility of management to address the issues like gossips/back biting, misunderstandings and encourage respect, communication and trust for each other. Third stage of Group Development is Norming Stage.
