“Hate Your Boss?”-Call the Government

I think the new program that the White House launched, in which workers who have complaints against their bosses can call the ABA, can be good and bad. The reason why I think it will be good is because for instance at my job, which is a Union job, we have a Human Resource Manager who is not qualified for the position, and when an employees’ bring an issue towards the manager, the manager doesn’t have answers, or doesn’t act fast enough to get the issue resolved, or even ignore the issue. Also at my job I’ve seen managers shave employees’ times, to make the company’s production, or what we call “Numbers”, sexual harassment, and racial discrimination on a daily basis. Although going through the chain of command is the right thing to do for these types of situations, when you have a management team who doesn’t care, The ABA hotline would be a good option for employees.

On the other hand, the program can be bad. As the economy fights through this recession, and companies are providing more jobs, employees who are using the ABA program to file complaints and lawsuits against small businesses, and are winning, small businesses could go into debt and eventually go bankrupt leading to nonexistence. Also what was mentioned in the article was if the lawyers’ who are doing the complaints’ are doing them correctly. If there’s nobody to police the lawyers’, the lawyers’ can pick the claims that will most likely succeed, and the rest of the complaints will be ignored which is a disadvantage to a contingency fee. This program could eventually lead to more lawsuits against companies, and less jobs.
