IT Department SWOT Analysis

SWOT is an acronym that recognizes the four basic components of the investigation. The letters stand for qualities, shortcomings, opportunities and dangers. Qualities give an investigation of the organization's favorable circumstances over its rivals. Shortcomings consider ranges in which the organizations are at a focused impediment. Opportunities are a rundown of undiscovered markets or business improvements. Dangers investigate the outer environment that could influence the organization, including mechanical, ecological and administrative components.

A. Strengths:

1. Strong IT Team : The IT team in the company was small but capable and strong. Since the team was there since the company started taking requests online, they know the software in and out. Though the software was running on complex middle ware, the existing IT team was able to figure out all the problems that popped up.

2. Request handling: The company was able to handle any number of requests that they get during peak seasons.

3. The company had good quality teddy bears and the delivery time was decent.

4. They had good customer base and had good customer satisfaction.

B. Weakness :

1. One of the major weakness of the company is the order request system. In peak seasons, the system would freeze or pause if the load was heavy.

2. There was no proper ERP or CRM system to handle requests.

3. The prices were high when compared to the other companies selling teddy bears.

4. They did frequent downsizing which resulted in brain drain for the IT department.
