In this particular field, one needs to be slightly ADHD and then know how to focus at the same time. This person juggles people, shipments, clients, and deadline making this special person are hard to find. Deadlines need to be tight and could make or break one in this field and this person must have a can do attitude. It is truly an adrenaline rush for some. When critical changes are made in the middle to accommodate the customer who is paying for your services, costs go up and the rush comes when everyone looks to you for answers. In the IT world this happens every day. The great project manager seems cool on the outside but on the inside the project manager is on a stress level of 100. “Project management is a field that requires people with competencies in three subject areas: technology, business and behavior,” (Brandel, M. 2001 para 1).

Job Description

An IT project manager will be accountable for substantial amount of organizational-wide projects. He or she will deal with large budgets and sizeable staff. This person will be engrossed in “meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors, stakeholders, and staff. He or she will devote a lot of time on project management responsibilities. He or she will lead the design, testing, planning, and implementation of complex projects for systems that typically affect many users,” (IS&T Competency Group. 2007). He or she will achieve effective goals by contributing data and endorsements to strategic plan and execute. The IT project manager will formulate and implement plans of action, for “productivity, quality, customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying trends, and employing change. He or she will meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions” (Monster, 2015).
