Develop three (3) recruitment methods for the job opportunity in question, and suggest two (2) ways that each method helps one to avoid discriminatory practices.

Many companies, businesses, and human resources managers use numerous of recruiting methods. “Some of the more widely used recruitment methods include placing advertisements in local newspapers and online, publishing internal announcements for promotions and personal referrals, enlisting employment and executive recruitment agencies and using government job centers”( Davis, 2015). Cutting-edge companies like Northrop Grumman and similar companies uses social and new media strategies to target the best candidates for their staffing needs.

“Employees are the key resource of any education institution. It is, therefore, crucial that, when selecting prospective employees, institutions operate fair and, above all, effective recruitment procedures. Careful adherence to recruitment policies and procedure when hiring staff will help protect against charges of discrimination” (Gilhooley, 2011).

Hiring fairly and taking complaints seriously are the methods that will assist the company in avoiding discriminatory practices. During the hiring and application process, any questions that directly or indirectly solicit personal information about a candidate can be seen as an intention to discriminate. Also, be mindful on how a job description is posted; ensure it’s written in a way that doesn’t exclude candidates in the protected class. In implementing impartial hiring, questions have to avoid soliciting information concerning characteristics that are commonly used in discrimination. Imploring about race, gender, age, religion, marital status or disability makes an employer appear as if they are incorporating these factors in searching for ideal workers.
