Difficulties with changing communication methods

We may experience resistance to using multiple channels of communication once we introduce the expectation. Managers will be the most appropriate individuals helping everyone during the transition of this change. It is up to them to explain the benefits of following up with different mediums of communication and ensuring everyone understands its importance. The proximity with which managers work with others makes them the most suitable moderators for this.

The changes proposed to make everyone culturally aware of the local traditions falls upon the multi-cultural team. The team who set forth to learn about the country prior to Café Britt’s expansion has the most knowledge and therefore is the best change agent for this communication initiative. Although the local culture may differ from employees’ culture, we do not predict major difficulties with this initiative due to the inherent nature of traveling to another country for the expansion. That is, employees are well aware they will be going to another country and experiencing new principles and values and are, therefore, prepared to experience changes.

The emerging leaders who are being developed through the leadership program are the best, most qualified change agents for the implementation of the increased team building and two way communication initiatives. It is up to these individuals to not only facilitate the current changes for the organization, but also develop their skills as perpetual change agents for the rest of their careers. Leaders are, by definition, change agents and imperative to implementing changes necessary for the success of the organization. Additionally, by scheduling the quarterly team building activities, they are automatically assisting with the communication change pertaining to increased trust and bonding.
