Popularity of Fast Food

The rise in popularity in fast food has shown an astonishing increase over the years. Alone, during a study conducted in 2006, 600 adults and teens from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area were interviewed on how strongly they agreed with statements concerning why Americans like fast food. These participants also reported that they eat fast food at least three times a week. The statements “quick and convenient” and “marketing skills” ranked the two most agreeable among the participants in the study. Thus, directly leading to the rise in popularity of fast food.

The rise of Fast Food popularity is caused by the fast food marketing skills and the quick conviency offered by fast food restaurants. The rise of fast food has been popping up all over America, and enticing not only the youth but the adults as well. The marketing skills has become more sophisticated and have exactly what the public wants; fast and convenient food. The quickness quickly draws overly tired parents who have hungry kids that just want the new toy at the bottom of their kids meals. Both parties are pleased, the parents get the night off for cooking and the kids get full stomachs and a new toy. The rise of fast food is growing rapidly and will continue to.

Many say that fast food is appealing because it is inexpensive. A study in 2010 by “the society of teachers of family medicine”, financial limitations often lead to poor health outcomes for low-income populations (McNight.) Also, after a Sunday soccer game cooking is usually the last thing on a parents mind so they look to McDonalds or Wendy’s to feed the family, especially with the rise of the dollar menu existing at every fast food place or a form of a value menu. The $1 price for a cheeseburgers, fries, and treats becomes very appealing to on the rush people.
