Final Exam for Elements of SCM The following questions should be answered in a concise, clear, complete and accurate response to the question asked or the information requested.

1. The textbook was very heavy into the big picture of SCM and covered many concepts including several new ones that probably are still being in the beta or testing phases. Discuss two of them and why they will add to the success of SCM operations.

The idea of the utilizing the multiple player online format intrigues me. I believe it will add success to SCM operations by connecting more pieces of the puzzle and reducing times associated with waiting for information. Having almost instant access to information and being able to test and practice supply chains would benefit companies by reducing costs associated with building supply chains and increasing confidence with supply chain personnel . Also the ability for the supply chain as a whole to test different theories in a simulated environment, would lead to real time collaboration and efficiency.

I also believe the biggest success lies in connecting all supply chain components together. Having the ability to share information instantly would lead to better performing supply chains as a whole. Since so much of supply chains relay heavily on information and data, linking an entire chain would improve efficiency. The author goes into this concept in many ways and I am also intrigued by the idea of an online Facebook style program. Having those close connections to other supply chain components and customers would greatly improve a chain’s ability to monitor and react quickly to changes in demand. Since the goal of a supply chain is to supply customers with what they want, this would greatly reduce error rates and lead to a truly response driven supply chain.

2. Provide three examples of where you could use simulation software in your particular field of work.

New store locations, especially warehouses.
