Marketing is vital for a business to achieve success however, not all marketing plans accomplish said success. With a growing market filled with diverse competition, businesses struggle to stand out and make their mark among others. There are some companies that even resort to unethical and unfair tactics for the sole purpose of gaining customers and smearing the names of their competitors. The problem is that they will eventually find themselves in great loss and more importantly eternal failure. That is why the Bible implores us to “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:”(Matthew 6:19 KJV) As the market grows larger, businesses often find themselves surrounded by complicated market competition. Nonetheless, businesses can hold fast to stay ethical and become prosperous in an honorable method.

“The task of any business is to deliver customer value at a profit. In a hypercompetitive economy with increasingly informed buyers faced with abundant choices, a company can win only by fine- tuning the value delivery process and choosing, providing, and communicating superior value.”( Kotler, 2012) In Joshua 1:1-9 it would appear that God is concerned with the method of approach to our situations or in this case towards our business or marketing strategy. The verse guides us to remain confident in our decision-making and conduct our lives and businesses courageously as children of an ever present God. The faithful businessperson is challenged to supply a product or service that is to bring pride to them and to be enjoyed by customers, vendors, employees, and community while still being profitable.
