What is e-Learning?

• Electronic learning (e-Learning) is an experiential

training method that emphases on utilizing mainly

software and the web.

• During the last decades more focus has been given to

use e-learning as a tool for international students who

does not require to meet face to face. (Anon, 2016)

• Web-based learning is related with training contents

presented in a Web browser, this includes materials

which are packaged on CD ROM or alternative media

devices. (Anon, 2016)

Online learning, Distance learning

• Online learning is related to materials readily available

on a computer. The material could be on the Web or the

Internet or intranet of the organization. (Anon, 2016)

• Distance learning comprises of interaction between the

learners and instructor at a distance, this involves timely

feedback provided to learners. (Anon, 2016)

• Simply broadcasting or posting learning materials to

learners is not distance learning. Instructors must be

actively engaged in receiving feedback from learners.

• According to Rosenberg, M.J. (2001) E-learning offers

Faster Delivery

– Research indicates e-learning cuts down learning duration by at least 25

to 60 percent when compared to traditional method.

• Consistency in the evaluation and delivery of materials

– Trainers can ensure consistency throughout the training programmes

without any need to worry about the deviation when conducting several

batches of training.
