1. Define what is encompassed in the term Information technology?

Information technology (IT) is the use of any computers, storage, networking and other physical devices, infrastructure and processes to create, process, store, secure and exchange all forms of electronic data.

2. What are some of the ways that IT has become “pervasive”?

Technology has become more and more pervasive in today's world. Cellphones . . .We are doing more and more with these little devices. We shop on them, we watch movies and videos, we monitor our finances, we get directions, we socialize, we manage our relationships, we meet people through them and on and on the list goes. Regardless of how we might feel about it, technology has become entrenched in our lives. Take simple communication. It used to be that there was only one way for a person to get a hold of someone, and one set of social rules to go with it. You could phone someone and as long as it wasn't too early or too late you were fine. Then came cell phones replacing home phones, then email and messaging replacing letter writing, then the social networks Twitter and Facebook replacing the casual "Just dropping by to say hello’s”, then Craigslist replacing the classifieds, and Plenty of Fish replacing the social clubs, then You Tube and Netflix replacing TV. Each mode of communication with their own benefits and downfalls has revolutionized much of modern socializing and business.

3. What kinds of portable IT help employees work more effectively and effectively? What may interfere with productivity?

Communication and Clear Instructions – it will help them identify and manage daily tasks. They will pick up essential tips on how to prioritize workloads and give them the feeling of greater control.

Training and Cross Training – When staff are skills, the true sense of teamwork is achieved and downtime is practically eliminated.

Virtual Portals and Teams – Employees can use them to connect...
