Everyone has internet access at their finger tip now; big businesses already have their market appearance and position in the e-commerce on the internet. Businesses have to engage in e-commerce to remain in the market. However, some small businesses do not have to engage in e-commerce to remain in market, such as local restaurant, food market, mini mart. However, it would help retain their customers and increase their profit if they engage in e-commerce.

What are the critical success factors for retail e-Business startups?

Security, reliability, quality, customer service, value, good relationship with supplier, good selection of product/service, customer incentives and product promotion.

2. If you were starting an e-commerce Web store, which of the business requirements summarized in Figure 9.13 would you primarily do yourself, and which would you outsource to a Web development or hosting company? Why?

I would do everything myself because I have experiences on these.

No, the need for strategic, tactical, and operational decision making in business has not changed, but the form and use of information and decision support systems has changed to be more effective.
