Abstract— In this paper, we propose an advanced brushless dc motor (BLDCM) drive for low cost and high performance electric propulsion system in electric vehicles (EV’s) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV’s). The whole transient and steady state performance of the drive is showed in this proposed model and it uses inverter switching functions instead of actual circuits. Investigation of an entire BLDC motor drive which includes power conversion unit, BLDC motor, current and speed control system, is acted. The implementation of the model which is proposed is done using Matlab/Simulink software. The detailed electrical variables, such as phase current, line and phase voltages and diode and switch currents are showed with the help of this concept. Direct Phase Current (DPC) control method is used because some problems are caused as a result of eliminating two power switches or a complete leg. The proposed model is demonstrated via simulation.

Introduction
Due to environmental concerns, there is a growing interest in electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Vehicular emissions, which is the main problem of internal combustion engine (ICE) is reduced by these vehicles. Since the advancement in battery technology has been comparatively slow, compared with the power electronics sector, the drawback of short range associated with EV still persists. And with this technological drawback, the HEV seems to be the most viable alternative to the...
