Summary

Although World War II was a devastating moment for the global economy, the opportunities it presented to the aerospace industry cannot be underestimated. The period after the Second World War was a defining moment for the aerospace industry with the military aviation undergoing a dramatic transformation. As rightly put, the military pilots, particularly in the United States, came home after the Second World War and helped in pushing the general expansion of the aviation industry (George, 2012). One of the most substantial developments noted is the evolution of the military aircraft from the piston engine to the high-performance jet aircraft. This case analysis discusses the factors that influenced the aircraft manufacturing industry after the World War II.

Problem Statement

The Second World War had a significant influence on the growth and development of the aircraft manufacturing industry. Studies indicate that World War II led to the establishment of a number of aeronautical engineering programs that fueled the development of the industry. According to Kleinhenz, Martinez, and Anda (2012) the need to fight the war through the advanced armament, communication, and surveillance motivated advancement in airframe construction, avionics, electronic, radar, and meteorology that steered the growth of the aircraft industry.
