Under Pressure

Three seconds left on the clock, the Lakers are down by two, Kobe has the ball running down the court stops short of the three-point line jumps and takes the shot only to see the ball bounce of the backboard and onto the ground. We’re all shocked at how this could happen, he is Kobe after all but what most people don’t realize is he is human as well and in those last three seconds of the game Kobe was under too much pressure from all the people watching, his team, fans, and family and that would explain the miss. This is the same feeling college students are under today, they feel that there is too much pressure put on them. No one should have that much pressure on their shoulders especially at such a young age because it’s harmful to the body and health. In the article “College Students Pretend to Seem Happy” Izzy Grinspan points out “at the University of Pennsylvania, it’s known as Penn Face, as in the face you put on when you want your friends and classmates to think you have your life together.” (Grinspan.1) With this statement Grinspan is trying to convey that even though college students are under so much pressure they still pretend that everything is fine and that they are happy. When in reality mare are going through a tough time and fall apart. What Grinspan is also trying to say is that students see others doing just fine so they feel they have to be as well and just put on a show to impress others.

College is the time for young adults to plan out the rest of their lives, but it’s not as easy as it’s made seem. College students have too much stress on them from the school work they have to do to their life out of school. Being in college and not knowing what profession to get into right after high school, where a student had to ask to use the restroom and going to college two months later and making the biggest decision of their life, is just too hard and puts a lot of stress on the person.
