Student Clubs, Should I Get Involved?

Whether you’re a new or returning student to Brock this year, one thing that is always stuck in the back of our heads with the start of each school year is whether or not we should get involved with a student club. A decision like this is generally a difficult one once we start thinking about the sacrifices and commitment that must be made. However, we tend to overlook the sheer benefits of joining a club and hopefully by the end of this article you will realize the perks of becoming part of a club here at Brock University.

One of the biggest reasons why you should join a club is simply because of all the opportunities you are presented with too make new friends and foster strong relationships that may indeed last a lifetime. You never know who you might meet during your time with the club. That being said, joining a club as a freshman only makes your transition that much easier. As an older student, networking becomes a vital tool for your own success after you graduate, so it is to your advantage too meet as many people as you can before you graduate. For all you know, your next job might be from a referral by one of those friends.

Being apart a student organizations also allows you too really discover yourself in ways that you may have never sought to see. You begin to realize how important time management really is. Juggling coursework, extracurricular activities and your social life is no easy task, trust me! Finding a balance is easier said than done but something that has always helped students is using a day planner. As cheesy as that sounds, it actually works! Being able to divide your day for specific activities allows you to make the most of your time and ultimately results in alot of free time to your disposal.
