Sowing and Reaping

The paper I am writing will show how science is used in the parable of sowing and reaping a harvest that is listed in Matthew 13. I will begin by discussing the four different types of soils that was discussed in Earth Science and relate each type to the soils discussed in the parable. As we are to look at all things naturally and spiritually, we will gain an understanding of the types of soil used by farmers to produce a harvest. Even though soil isn’t a living vessel, it helps give life to plants and animals.

God is the farmer, the seed is the Word of God and our hearts is the soil in the parable of the sower. There are three main points that needs to be covered to show how science relates to the scriptures about the soil found in Matthew 13. The main points are: the seed falls onto every type of soil; the soil represents a person’s reaction to the seed that was sown; and the harvest that comes from the result of received word (Buchanan, 2013). This paper will give you my personal opinion using scripture and science research as support to compare science to the Parable of Reaping and Sowing.

You have to picture Jesus telling the parable to the crowd of people. Imagine that an actual farmer had a bag of seed and, after reaching in and getting a handful, he throws it all over the ground. As the sower threw the seed, automatically some of the seed would fall on ground that was not able to take root and develop, including other seed that fell on good soil and produced an awesome harvest.

Let us begin by defining soil, which is, a combination of mineral and organic matter, water and air that portion of the regolith that supports the growth of plants. As we learned in class, the soil texture influences the soils ability to retain and transmit water and air which is essential to growth. In order...
