Tanglewood Case

As Tanglewood expands and undergoes the creation and improvemetn of its centralized Human Resources Department, staffing decisions will be a large part of the HR department. Below I have gone over 13 aspects of staffing strategies. I believe that by following these recommendations, Tanglewood will be able to be an even more successful business, while also keeping the organizational mission.

1. Acquiring or Developing Talent

I would recommend that Tanglewood focus more on acquiring talent. Acquiring talent emphasizes that this strategy focuses on finding employees who are able to “hit the ground running” and will have peak performance right away. This type of staffing is important when you consider that Tanglewood is quickly expanding, and with all of the different management styles, this is the best way to ensure that each new store starts on the right path. It also just makes sense to acquire talent as a company expands, since there are not many current employees to bring up at the new stores. However, for higher up positions within each store and company, I believe that Tanglewood should remain with its developing talent strategy. Showing employees that it is very possible to move up within the company will keep them motivated and employees are typically more comfortable with having the new boss be someone who they know and someone who already knows what the company is about. The developing talent strategy for management positions can also be a way for Tanglewood to have a more similar management style throughout its different locations.

2. Hire Yourself or Outsource

I would recommend that Tanglewood to continue to do all of the hiring itself. Tanglewood has been able to be successful by finding its own niche, and hiring people who will do their best to follow the goals and mission of the organization. To ensure that the individuals it hires are those who...
