SEVEN PILLARS
- There has been a modification for the model.
- For each “pillar” a researcher can develop from a “newbie” to an “expert”
when it comes to researching.
- A researcher can go down a pillar, or move up a pillar depending on his / her
progress.
HOW TO USE THE MODEL
- The circular structure of the model demonstrates the becoming of the Information
Literate.
- Each pillar is described by statements that relates to a set of skills / competencies as
well as a set of attitudes / understandings.
- When a researcher moves up a pillar, they become more information literate.
1. IDENTIFY
The researcher is able to identify the need for research information in order to answer the
research question.
