Personal Health Assessment Paper

Wellness is a relative new term that describes the optimal health of a person. Wellness is not just the physical health of an individual but includes the six dimensions of health, which are physical, psychological, spiritual, social, intellectual, and environmental (Insel & Roth, 2006). Wellness comes by making good decisions about living ones life. This paper will identify three of the six dimensions of health that are this authors strongest and one of the six that needs improvement. In addition, this paper will include personal choices and habits this author will make to improve his health and discuss what this author wants to learn in this course to help gain a healthy lifestyle.

Spiritual, intellectual, and social are three of the six dimensions of personal health this author identifies, in order, as a strong part of his personal health. Religion has always played an important part of this author’s life and his religion encourages and helps him to stay spiritually strong. A person may be religious and be weak spiritually. The important part of being spiritual is having principals and values that give meaning to life and having the capacity for love, forgiveness, and compassion. A few years ago, the intellectual part of personal health for this author is weak. However, this author set goals and decided to attend the University of Phoenix. Now with only six credits remaining, this author is close to receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Going to school helps one become healthy in the intellectual dimension of personal health. . Being social is easy for this author and naturally the social dimension of personal health stays healthy. Three of the six dimensions, spiritual, intellectual, and social are in good health for this author, however, complete personal wellness requires health in all six dimensions
