Understanding Emotions Understanding You

There is no doubt you going to have emotions. As long as you walk on this God green earth feelings is going to be part of you. Part of your daily life. Part of your relationships, school, work name it emotions will be involved. Emotions is part of you. Faithfully that’s how we were built to operate. You may not always can decide how you feel in situations but believe it or not you can control how you react. May not always be easy but there are ways. But first you have to understand your emotions. That means you have to understand you.

First thing is to understand there are 4 main feelings which are your Primary Emotions. They are happy, sad, anger, and fear. Situations can bring 1 or even more of these four primary emotions. Emotions come from your brain. They are the ticking in your brain that reacts to situations depending how it feel it should react in certain situations. Best way to describe it according to Darwin B. Nelson and Gary R. Low, authors of the text book Emotional Intelligence, there are two types of minds. One that feels and one that thinks. Emotions are different then thoughts. Your emotions is how you feel and your thoughts are your reactions to those feelings. Like you feel Angry you may want to respond aggressively as to happy you may want to react cheerfully. Sometimes when we react the way we feel we tend to put ourselves in situations we regret once we able to really stop and think what exactly happen. Like when you and a close friend have a disagreement and it ended with a huge argument. After the argument and you feel your anger emotion tend to relax and seem to calm you think more clearly and realize the argument went way too far and some words maybe said to one another you regret so you find yourself going back to your best friend with an apology hoping they will except it and ya’ll can continue with a friendship.
