Company Q’s social responsibility is very poor. I understand if a company is not making profit in certain locations, it is bad business to stay open. However, I do feel that Company Q is not giving an effort to improve and try to be successful.

Company Q has had opportunities to turn around it business. Local customers requested healthier, organic food. Company Q did not listen to the consumer or their demands. I feel like Company Q knew they would improve business if they were to carry certain products that the consumer wanted, but they had no intent in staying in a high crime rate area. They were also socially irresponsible by not donating their expired food to the local city food bank. By not doing this they publically look like they don’t want to be part od the community and have no intent on giving back, even if it’s a product they must throw out anyway. Therefore, they had no interest in making a profit or being a part of the community. Instead they would rather leave.

There are many things this company could do differently to improve its social responsibility. By carrying healthier and organic food. By doing this they would demonstrate that they care about the publics opinion and their health as well. This would demonstrate high social responsibility and gain respect from the locals. It might even help them make money instead of loosing it.

Company Q could donate there expired good to the local food bank. By doing this not only would it help feed the poor and homeless, indirectly it could possibly help bring down the high crime rate of the city. This would also demonstrate trust between them and the community. Trust is a very important thing to build between a business and the area which its located in. People would start talking about how Company Q donated its goods to the city food bank. Word of mouth would get around, that would create free advertisement.
