In two typed pages, compare and contrast two religions covered in this course. Be sure to address the way each religion:

· characterizes the fundamental nature and purpose of human existence

· characterizes the nature of God/gods and humankind’s relationship with God/gods

· reconciles human suffering with the existence of God/gods

· describes the afterlife and the connection between this-worldly behavior and the afterlife

· uses two major holidays to exemplify and reinforce major beliefs, values, and practices

· enjoins members of the religion to refrain from violence and to coexist peacefully with members of other faiths

The two different types of religion that I will be discussing is Christianity and Buddhism. These are two very distinctive, very different religions. Christianity has a God while Buddhism does not. As a Christian, those who believe in Jesus believes in the bible and lives by the bible. The most important section in the bible is where it talks about the Ten Commandments. With Buddhism, there is no bible, just teachings about how to live a happy life.

There are many reasons as to why humans exist on this planet. In Christianity, we exist because of the mistake of Adam and Eve. Since Adam and Eve ate the apple from the forbidden tree, against the wishes of God, God punished them. Christianity explains that the universe was created by God of the bible with love and intelligent power. It is fundamentally good and made with a purpose. Humans were created in the image of God himself and are existent in order to love and serve God to assert God’s glorious plan for creation. It is possible to understand existence as a test to prove our loyalty to God though all the influences that may set mankind astray. With that, humans would experience everlasting life in heaven with God. In Buddhism, the explanation of how the universe came about was through scientific explanation without the god-idea....
