Case analysis 1

1. Using the concepts we have learned so far in this course, what are the problems in this business?  Please use and underline within your response at least 3 key concepts from this course that help to explain what the issues are.

-Engagement

This company used to have engagement workforce, however, they are struggling with it right now. But first, they even lack of the four enablers of employee engagement elements. Strategic Narrative: they did not set clear line of sight between the job and goals of the company. The internal relationship is a mess right now, Sara set her “peeps” into the company which does not help to create a health work environment, and it disturbs their employees working goals. To help the company turn on the right track, or to follow Sara’s satisfaction trail? Sara did not give them trust and either gain trust from the employees, they built a guard wall between each other, that atmosphere won’t help employees to be engagement and contribute to the company. Engaging manager: Sara as a manager, but never appreciate her employees or treat them as an individual. She fired their training manager for saving costs, but she is not knowledgeable in that area. Furthermore, in the time perspective aspect, she is sometimes “missing in action”. All in all, those behavior make her a disengagement manager. Employee Voice: Sara never give a fair opportunity to the employees to do some feedbacks or hear from their voices, if the employees have their opinion, they got no chance to complain, and that is why the problem would still be there and never changed. Integrity: Sara did not make their behavioral norms, and she did not trust their employees, because she even set her own “peeps” to watching on them. If the employees feel they are not trusted, they know their competences were not spotted, and they would disappointed on their work.
