Expedia.com Analysis

Expedia.com is a leisure travel company based in the United States. It is the parent company of such global online brands at Travelocity, Obritz.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, and Traviago.com just to name a few. The brand has multiple travel companies under its umbrella. The company was founded in 1996, and has since set the bar by which online travel is booked.

Expedia.com allows customers to book travel from the comfort of their own home without the hassle of visiting a travel retail location. One line of service Expedia.com provides to customers is the option to book their own airfare. Expedia.com will consolidate airfare prices from multiple airline companies in one place to give the online shopper a comparative view. Shoppers can view the comparative prices and select the option that best fits their needs based on travel schedule, departure time, or price.

Expedia.com customer base include the everyday leisure traveler. Home shoppers like you and I can book our very own travel arrangements with the simple click of the mouse. All that is required is a computer, good internet connection and a valid credit card. Expedia.com competition include Kyak.com, and Priceline.com just to name a few. There are too many companies offering online travel services to name each one. I mentioned Kyak.com, and Priceline because they are to two with the most name brand recognition on a comparative base.

Expedia.com has positioned themselves ahead of the competition in the online travel market by providing a one stop shopping experience. The online travel shopper can book airfare, rental car, cruises, hotel accommodations, and even land excursion once you’ve reached your travel destination on one travel site.
