I. Business Overview/Current Grand Strategy

Sealed Air Corporation, which uses the stock ticker abbreviation SEE, manufactures and sells a wide range of food, protective and specialty packaging products in the U.S. and 49 other countries around the world. SEE conducts most all of their business through two direct wholly-owned subsidiaries, Cryovac, Inc. and Sealed Air Corporation. SEE operates in two reportable business segments which include food packaging and protective/specialty packaging. SEE supports its packaging customers by operating in numerous food science laboratories. These labs assist customers in choosing the correct food packaging materials and systems to ensure their needs are met, along with custom graphic design services for all products. SEE also operates packaging laboratories for their specialty/protective packaging products in many of its locations around the globe. These labs are staffed with professional engineers, scientists and equipment experts that assist in developing and testing cost-effective package designs that meet the requirements of each customer. According to the company’s corporate website, SEE’s vision statement is, “To create a better way for life”. SEE’s mission statement is, “We re-imagine the industries we serve to create a world that feels, tastes and works better.”

SEE currently uses a growth grand strategy approach. SEE employs approximately 25,000 men and women. More than 1,500 of the employees are full time scientists, engineers, and equipment/application experts. They have over 200 office locations in 50 different countries around the world and currently utilize 56 research laboratories, though this number continues to grow. SEE holds an increasing number of patents, currently known to be at 3600, and trademarks which is currently known to be at 9,300.
