Broadcasting

Broadcasting is one of the vastest fields of work there is. There are many different types of broadcasting, but the most popular are television broadcasting, radio broadcasting, and sports broadcasting. Television broadcasting, the most popular type of broadcasting, is the most exciting field of broadcasting as well as the highest paying field. Radio broadcasting, which is the more relaxed field of broadcasting, is known for broadcasting in a way where only the broadcaster’s voice is heard. Sports broadcasting, the field in which live sports is broadcast to the public, can be broadcast either by television or radio, is very exciting and keeps one on the edge of their seat.

In order to be the best broadcaster one can be, one must have extremely well developed writing, speaking, and social skills. In college, the best classes to take are classes which aid in the development of those three skills. If pursuing the broadcasting career, one must think of those three things as their top priorities, and learn to perfect them while in college. For help with speaking skills, one could take a public speaking class. Public speaking classes help to control the voice, use humor in gestures, and to develop a relationship with the audience which is being spoken to. For help with writing skills, one could take an English or Journalism class. English classes help to be grammatically correct when speaking and writing, while Journalism classes help to teach technical skills such as research skills, interviewing technique and shorthand. As for social skills, they should come naturally to one considering or pursuing a broadcasting career. All broadcasting stations require a certificate of completion, an associate’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree. As for what degree is required, it depends on the field of broadcasting being pursued.
