GENERAL INTRODUCTION AND SUMMARY

Over the years Health Care administrators are often inundated with information about a large number of patients and their visits to the hospital which needs to be organized and kept up-to-date. Our project Health Care Management System is a web based application that will be designed, developed and built for hospital administrators and doctors to organize information on and about patients and staffs, enhance administration and control and enhance profit.

Health Care Management System intends to facilitate several day to day activities in the health center from patient registration, to patient’s health and treatment. Our system will handle task such as maintaining complete information of a patients (Medical history, Registration, Patients appointment) Doctor’s detail, Wards, Pharmacy records, Bills and Admin. It will reduce the immense inconvenience faced by patients especially in most government hospitals where the patients wait in long winding queues going from one corridor to another.

This research in ten health center reviewed that the basic working procedures of various health center in rivers state is still on paper and the staffs in the health center takes up more workload because there are fewer workers in the health center and it then affects their service time to a patient which makes the manual process more time consuming. Although we say technology is reaching everywhere we still can’t compare the manual working procedures in our health center to other health center or hospital in the European countries where computers have been put in to assist the hospital staff in their work.

It was through this we got the concept to develop and build our project which is based on Automation and Management of health center in our state.
