1 Introduction

According to Kelly (2012), the Wright brothers are credited with the invention of the first successful airplane and making the first flight. The Wright brothers i.e. Wilbur and Orville Wright developed the first airplane and conducted the first powered and controlled flight in 1903. At such a time when the world was looking into the possibility of flight as a means of transport, this was a major achievement on which other inventors used to develop better airplanes which have evolved to the different types of airplanes that are available today. Orville & Wilbur achieved the first successful flight of a plane heavier than air on 17th Dec. 1903 (Tara & Mike, 2007). Within the next decade, the brothers worked hard to make important modifications and developments to their original prototype. Through these developments, Orville and Wilbur made significant contributions to the modern aviation industry.

2 The Early Life of Orville & Wilbur (Wright Brothers)

The Wright brothers had 2 more brothers and one sister. They were born of parents S. Catherine and Milton Wright who worked as a church minister. Due to their fathers work in different church ministries, their family moved around often. Milton Wright, their father, encouraged all the children to study widely to gain understanding of the issues that were facing the world at that time.
