A position on administration in the church, either for or against it. As it comes with church administration, I believe that it can both be an asset and a hindrance. It comes to the fact of how church administration is handled. If done effectively, then it can be a huge asset to the church and allow it to function effectively and work to grow the ministries therein. If done poorly, it can work to destroy church ministries from the inside out. Welch gives good explanation in the Preface of his book that describes the effects of poor administration within a church. He describes how it causes for many missionaries within churches to feel abandoned and discouraged. It causes them to have a very low job satisfaction rating, and can push them towards burnout and out of their mission field. Dr. Welch and I definitely can relate much in the same, likely due to his experience in military constructs. In the military, I have experienced both bad and good administrative structures. When the administrative structures function well, then moral of the troops raises dramatically. They feel like they are taken care of and can focus on the missions rather than worry about when they are going to be paid. When the military administrative structure fails to perform, it has devastating effects on the unit. Once I had an administrative non-commissioned officer who continually failed to perform, this caused many issues throughout the company. Most of my soldiers felt as if they could not rely on the company as a whole to get anything accomplished on their behalf. They worried about getting paid and not getting credit for training they accomplished. They also fretted over how their careers would be handled. This in turn caused some to leave the unit for other positions, and others to get out of the military all together. This also caused a motivation issue, which in turn resulted in not being able to complete several missions to the highest standard. I think that Dr. Welch describes is...
