Abstract
The need to understand the Millennial mindset as it relates to the field of Expanded Learning is essential. It is important to understand the Millennial’s approach to leadership, management and wisdom. The enthusiasm for the work is great, yet some practical “wisdom” is lacking, or stereotypes have so infiltrated the field that a distinction is needed to discern truth. This greater understanding of Millennials will enable Expanded Learning senior leaders to be able to provide the leadership, training, and coaching to bring Millennials to the point of being able to trust them. When thinking about the level of trust necessary to be an effective leader in the expanded learning environment as parents are letting their precious children to be under the care of Millennials, it is of great concern. The jobs in Expanded Learning are essentially entry level, but have great responsibility. The goal of this project is to develop a training and professional development plan that will motivate Expanded Learning Millennials, leverage their expertise, education and enthusiasm, prepare them for leadership positions and help them succeed as leaders.
