Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars

There is a new technology called hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCV), this new technology for cars is going to provide a sustainable choice in the vehicle market. FCV is using hydrogen the most copious element in the universe, which we will always have compared to fossil fuels that is growing scarce. Technology has improved since 1999 with the hybrid Toyota Prius coming out with better emissions but still using fossil fuels. This new technology FCV will change the community to go to a hydrogen vehicle for a sustainable problem many cities are having with carbon emissions and global warming on the rise. FCV can be driven with zero emissions and can go up to 300 miles on one tank of hydrogen (Toyota Global Site). It also only takes 3 minutes to fill up the car. The convenience of this technology will cause this new type of car to be used, and will create a low-carbon society if everyone jumps on board.

There is a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to give energy to the electric motor (Toyota Global Site). Air comes through the front of the vehicle to create oxygen, which will give electricity to the car from bonding with the hydrogen tank. The FC stack is a fuel cell component that creates the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, which will give electricity to the drive battery and motor. Toyota, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Audi are now making hydrogen vehicles. Hydrogen fueled cell cars is being tested more and is being more widely known to the public to make an impact on city pollution.

Most of these hydrogen cars are targeting big commuter cities that are already having bad emission problems like Los Angeles in California. Toyota started their first FCV in Los Angeles with having 20 places you can refuel your hydrogen car. This compared to 10,000 gas stations make it not as easily accessible at the moment. If a city starts to give a more accessible way to refuel hydrogen they can make the market grow much faster for people...
