PD121: Journal Assessment

In growing and maturing I have realized that getting the education that I need is very important in order to become successful on the job and excelling in the workplace. Throughout my previous educational experiences I was confronted by many barriers and setbacks that have stood in my way of completing my education. Procrastination, poor time management, and lack of support system are three main things that have blocked my academic success.

Procrastination has always been one of my biggest road blocks. I have always started with school but always found myself delaying and postponing things which I should have stayed focused and completed the course or class which eventually led to stress and self-guilt. I am older now and understand the importance of school and have become more self-aware and have learned to block out distractions. My second road block to my success is poor time management. Poor time management can have an impact on every part of your life. In the past I would wait until the last minute to try and submit assignments which in turn brought about a lot of stress and poor grades because I would rush to get everything completed. I have learned to better prioritize school, work, and kids so that I have time to complete all assignments on time as well as balance work and my children. My third biggest road block to success I feel is the lack of support system from family and friends. Both of parent’s education was limited, and they did not push me to enroll and complete college. They only stressed about finding a job. From what I have experience is in order to have a rewarding job that supports all of my financial needs and children that education is very important in order to achieve this goal. Also the friends that I did have growing up did not support or encourage me to go to college.
